Temporarily Closed Suggested for Conch Factory

Banjarmasin, South Kalimantan 11/1 (AntaranewsKalsel) - Member of Commission III DPRD South Kalimantan overseeing infrastructure and development Misri Syarkawie suggested the government should temporarily shut-down PT Conch cement factory activity in Tabalong.

"The temporary closure for Conch is during discussing the issue of cement transport that use public roads in South Kalimantan, which resulted in road damages and cause the local community restless," he said in Banjarmasin on Wednesday.

Suggestion of the commission member, who also in charge of mining and energy, was modeled on the experience of coal transportation before the Regional Regulation No. 3/2008 as amended by Regulation 3/2012. These laws banning transport of mining products using public roads. The goal is to support the smooth traffic of public transport, and avoid accelerating deterioration of the road.

According to him, to discuss the best solution of Conch Cement transport problems is to invite officials of relevant agencies as well as the management of the company.

"If there is agreement of each parties in finding the best solution to Conch cement transport, then the plant back to operational again," he continued.

Former member of 2004-2009 parliament argued, the solution to overcome the problem are only two choices, namely to make a specific road or its own or use weighbridge.

"The use of weighbridge means cargo or freight tonnage restrictions should be in accordance with the class or the road durability of the burden," he said answering members of the DPRD South Kalimantan press room.

As a logical consequence of the use of the weighbridge should provide land and warehouse stacking, in case of overload to protect goods from damage accumulates and does not cause problems.

While the provision and management of the weighbridge is the authority of the central government through the Ministry of Transportation, said Misri Syarkawie.
