Governor of South Kalimantan H Sahbirin Noor highlighted the development progress at the province's 74th anniversary celebration in the courtyard of the Old Governor's Office in Banjarmasin, Wednesday.
He said, the progress of the development up to the age of 74 since this province was founded on August 14, 1950 can certainly be felt and seen now, even there will be new icon for this province.
Among them, the construction of Zero Kilometer Monument in Banjarmasin City next to the Old Governor's Office and close to Martapura River, is confirmed to be completed this year.
"The inspiration to build this monument was Monas in Jakarta, we want this province to have an icon that is attractive and proud as Monas," he said.
The monument is built 99 meters tall so you can see the view of the City of Banjarmasin.

Governor, who familiarly called Uncle Birin, also took pride of development during his leadership, an unimpeded road from the District of Tanah Bumbu to the City of Banjarbaru.
The IDR800 billion project, which is funded by the provincial budget (APBD), cuts travel duration significantly, and is also confirmed to be completed this year.
"Usually to Tanah Bumbu from Banjarmasin or Banjarbaru it takes around 5-6 hours, with this new road it only takes 2.5 or 3 hours," he said.
Even at the independence carnival, Governor said, he and a thousand of motorbikers will try this 104 kilometers long new road.
"So everyone can experience this development," he said.
Likewise the Syech Muhammad Arsyad Al-Banjari Grand Mosque in Banjarbaru. "Hopefully it also become an icon of pride for the people of South Kalimantan," he said.
According to the Goernor, during the approximately 8 years he led this province, the development continues to move forward to realize South Kalimantan as the gateway of the future capital city Nusantara (IKN) in the neighborng provicne, East Kalimantan.
He admitted all the success have been achieved cannot be separated from the collaboration of all parties, including the district and city governments.
"We hope that this development will continue in the next leadership," he said.
