Lambung Mangkurat University (ULM), which is claimed to be the best and biggest public university in Kalimantan, is strengthening internasional network toward 1,500 world ranking so it can enter the "world class university" (WCU) category.
"Right now ULM's position is still at 2,100 in the world ranking, while the minimum requirement for WCU is at 1,500," said ULM Rector Professor Ahmad Alim Bachri here on Saturday.
ULM cooperation with leading universitiesin a number of countries had been established, he said, increasing in quality.
While scientific publication in international journal countinued to be encouraged to increase.

Including productivity of research results, community services, IPR (copyright), books, and networks according to ranking of the Science and Technology Index (SINTA) of the Ministry of Education, Culture, Research, and Technology.
The closest target that ULM pursuing is becoming a Wetland Center of Excellence in the Asia Pacific region by the end of 2027.
ULM, according to Alim Bachri, is taking step in the university revitalization establishing international research collaboration with foreign universities, including leading campuses in the best national rankings.
He is optimistic that all these efforts can bring ULM into the world class university category in not too long.
In fact, ULM for two years in a row ha been listed in the 47 best campuses in Indonesia based on the 2024 university clastering issued by the Ministry of Education, Culture, Reasearch and Technology (Kemendikbudristek) by maintaining its position in the independent cluster.
Then, with the suport of 119 professors, nine doctoral program (S3) ans six internationally accredited study programs which provide guarantees for 37,000 students to obtain competitiveness in their studies.
