The University of Lambung Mangkurat (ULM) in South Kalimantan has achieved international accreditation for six study programs from world accreditation institution recognized by the Indonesian Ministry of Education, Culture, research, and Technology (Kemendikbudristek).


"Alhamdulillah (Thank God) this is a happy news as a sweet gift at the end of the year for ULM," said Rector of ULM Prof Ahmad Alim Bachri in Banjarmasin, Tuesday.

The six majors are Undergraduate (S1) of Soil Science, S1 of Agribusiness, S1 of Agricultural Industrial Technology, S1 of Forestry, S1 of Medical Education, and S1 of Public Health.

In particular, Alim appreciated the Faculty of Agriculture which contributed three programs at once in achieving the first international accreditation for ULM.

He hopes that this world level achievement will be a motivation for other majors to win similar achievements and it is targeted that every faculty to win at least two international accreditations by 2024.

Especially that he provided an appreciation fund of IDR50 million for each study program that succeed in winning the world level recognition for accreditation.

"As the best public university in Kalimantan, where the National Capital is located, ULM must continue to improve its quality more competitive learning at the level of global competition," he pointed out accompanied by Head of ULM Quality Assurance Agency (LPM) Prof Agung Nugroho and the Dean of Agriculture Faculty Prof Rizalli Saidy.
 
Alim said that every accreditation agency has their own criteria to determine whether a study program deserves to be given an accreditation according to international standards.

ASIIN (Accreditation Agency for Degree Programs In Engineering Informatics/Computer Science, The Natural Sciences and Mathemathics), an international accreditations agency from Germany for scientific disciplines, engineering, math and science, agriculture, and biology, for example, assessed the Bachelor degree (S1) of Soil Science, S1 Agribusiness, S1 Agricultural Industrial Technology, and S1 Forestry were eligible to receive accreditation from them.

Meanwhile, two majors at the Faculty of Medicine, received their international accreditations from the Indonesian Independent Accreditation Institute for Higher Education in Health (LAM-PTKes) with superior results that were on par with international accreditation.
