Chairman of Kotabaru, South Kalimantan, DPRD Syairi Mukhlis said that heroes struggle in the past should be a role model for younger generation in the modern era.
"The momentum of National Awakening Day (Harkitnas) is unifying and spirit of togetherness toward a golden Indonesia," he remarked when attending Harkitnas commemoration at the Siring Laut, Kotabaru, Tuesday.
He said as a generation that carries forward the natioan's ideals, they should always foster national unity and integrarity amidst differences or diversity in social status, religion, ethnicity, language, culture, and politic colors.
"We wish you happy National Awakening Day. May the heroes' struggle continue to burn within us to build Indonesia, especially Kotabaru District even better," Syairi said .
On this historic day, Syairi invites all level of society to spread the spirit of Natioal Awakening Day, especially younger generation, so that the ideals of independence are maintained.
“Let's revive education and health, so we can provide better services toward a better and more dignified Kotabaru District,” Syairi Mukhlis.
