South Hulu sungai (HSS) government held clean-up action by cruising river and collecting rubbish on National Garbage Care Day (HPSN) 2024.
"Our joint action started with planting trees in the yard of Al-Ettihad Mosque Loksado, followed by cruising the river to clean up plastic waste," said Head of HSS Public Housing, Settlement, and Environment Office (Dispera KPLH) Ronaldy P Putra when confirmed in Kandangan, Sunday.
He said the environmental preservation action in accordance with the Minister of Environment and Forestry's circular No. 2 of 2024 regarding HPSN 2024 carried out simultaneously throughout Indonesia.
A number of environment and tourism activitists, including "river tubing" and other activiists joined the action.
"About 100 activists took part in clean up action from upstream area, especially plastic waste on the riverbanks," said Ronaldy.

Acting HSS Regent Hermansyah was grateful to take part in HPSN action which took place in the tourism area of Loksado.
He said a number of agenda had been implemented, including planting trees for conservation and at worship place in Loksado.
"Together with activists, we all go down to clean the river in the upstream area," he said.
He said waste handling must be integrated and hopes that the HPSN moment to make people aware of garbage that it could be a disaster but could also become a value.
The acting Regent on that occision handed over Tossa vehicle and plastic waste ATM.
The activities were also attended by acting Chairwoman of the district TP-PKK Rusnawati Hermansyah, Regional Secretary M Noor, heads of OPD, Head of Loksado sub-district, Commander of Sub-district Military, and village heads.
