Chief of Central Hulu Sungai (HST) Police, South Kalimantan Regional Police, AKBP Jimmy Kurniawan instructed all personnel to be ready to help residents affected by flood disasters which have the potential to occur during the rainy season in early 2024.

“This Thursday, we visit the villages that are flooded. I ask people to always comply officers' appeal regarding weather information,” he said here, Thursday.

Jimmy said that his party together with the village government and community have distributed thousands of food package assistance in stages while monitoring the condition of flooded villages.

HST District in South Kalimantan Province has so far experienced five times flooding in the last one month.

“I ensure that all personnel are out all the time to help residents affected by flood. This is the social responsibility of the police,” he said.

The Police Chief expressed his concern for residents who were experiencing difficulties because of flood. He hopes that the food assistance provided to relive their burden.

Jimmy instructed his staff to always coordinate with agencies in efforts to deal with flood disasters and be ready to provide assistance to people who need help.

According to him, the presence of police and government is really needed, especially during the disaster condition, when many people need helping hands.

Jimmy also ensured that police are always ready to synergize with local government to monitor the situation in the field and at the same time knowing the urgent need of flood victims.

Jimmy appealed to the public to always be alert to the potential of flood which can be deeper considering that rainfall is still continuing based on the weather forecast released by BMKG throughout South Kalimantan.
