The City of Banjarbaru, South Kalimantan Province, received the award for City that Cares for Human Rights (HAM) for two consecutive years.
The City's Communication and Informatics Office (Dinas Kominfo) in a press statement here on Wednesday noted that it was announced through the Law and Human Rights Minister Yasonna H Laoly's decree on November 15, 2023.
"Alhamdulillah, we are grateful that this year Banjarbaru again received the City of Human Rights Care award from Law and Human Rights Ministry. Of course it becomes our encouragement to pay more attention to people's human rights," said Mayor of Banjarbaru Muhammad Aditya Mufti Ariffin.

According to him, before receiving the award, the Banjarbaru City Government first submitted data on achievements in fulfilling human rights throughout 2022.
The results of the Ministry's assessment on the data determined that Banjarbaru fulfilled the requirements for receiving the City Cares for Human Rights award through various program implemented.
"We thank all stakeholders and the community who always support various programs, including in human rights, thus it resulted in achievements and appreciation," he said.
Aditya thanks all elements of the City Leadership Communication Forum, from Police Chief, DPRD Chairman, Commander of 1006/Banjar District Military Command, District Court, and Prosecutor's Office who work in synergy with each other.
This synergy, Aditya said, resulted in award in the form of the title City that Cares for Human Rights for Banjarbaru together with 261 districts and cities in Indonesia who achieved achievements for fulfilling the basic rights of citizens.
