Mayor of Banjarbaru, South Kalimantan, Muhammad Aditya Mufti Ariffin stated that he is ready to optimize innovation and improve agricultural process as an effort to modernize the sector as a whole.
"The momentum of World Food Day is a positive step through innovation and improvement toward agricultural modernization efforts," he said during the commemoration of World Food Day in Banjarbaru City, Thursday.
Steps that are ready to be taken toward agricultural modernization, he expounded, from agricultural technology to efficient practices of agriculture that enhancing productivity.
On the same time, the city trying to reduce crop losses and take steps to increase food security through various efforts involving farmers, communities and stakeholders.
"We hope that health food industry to increase, food security also increasing through the modernization to boost both productivity and quality of harvests," he said.
He said the Banjarbaru government has received fiscal incentive fund from the Ministry of Finance for it considered successful in controlling inflation, and funds to improve the welfare of community and farmers.
"The fiscal incentive fund will be used to help community welfare, alleviate poverty, also to help farmers to buy agricultural equipment so they are more modern," he said.
The World Food Day was marked with a mass fruit eating led by the mayor. Previously, he with the city leadership coordination forum (Forkopimda) sent off the distribution of Bulog rice assistance, and inspecting low-price market.
The low-price market held at the yard of Bina Satria building was facilitated by the Food Security, Agriculture, and Fisheries Office by selling various food at low prices.
