Chairman of the Kotabaru DPRD's Commission I Gewsima Mega Putra has realized the 2023 sholarship program for as many as 2,500 elementary (SD) and junior high school (SMP) students in three sub-districts.

"This program is intended for SD and SMP," said Gewsima Mega Putra in Kotabaru. Wednesday.

He explained that the educational scholarship was launched in the sub-districts area of Pulau Laut Sigam, Pulau Laut Utara, and Pulau Sebuku to prevent children from dropping out during their education period.

The amount of scholarship are classified based on educational level. "Rp550,000 per elementary school and Rp1 million for juniro high school," he said.

In implementing the program, Putra went straight to the schools to collect aspiration both from teachers and students.

Previously in 2021, he chaired the DPRD's special committee on educational financial aid and scholarship, then in 2023 the scholarship was realized.

Scholarship recipients are assessed through selectiuon stages based on academic and social survey results.

Putra hopes that in the coming year it will accomodate up to 5,000 participants, who have well achievement and from low-income families outsiden the three sub-districts who have received it.
