Vice President Ma'ruf Amin received a visit from the Ambassador of Saudi Arabia to Indonesia Faisal bin Abdullah Al Mudi on Tuesday to discuss the strengthening of relations between the two countries.

Masduki Baidlowi, the spokesperson for the Vice President, informed that during their meeting, both figures talked about the strengthening of cooperation between Indonesia and Saudi Arabia, particularly in the field of investment.

"The Vice President responded to the ambassador's aspirations by pushing for stimulating the flow of investment between the two countries. This is part of the implementation of the 'people to people' diplomacy," Baidlowi said.

He accompanied VP Amin during the meeting, which took place at the Vice President's official residence in Jakarta.

Baidlowi said that Indonesia and Saudi Arabia have been successful in fostering and continuously enhancing their long-established bilateral relations.

The signing of several memoranda of understanding (MoUs) during President Joko Widodo's visit to the Gulf state on October 18, 2023, served as proof of the enhancement of the two countries' bilateral ties, he added.

He said that the President's visit resulted in the signing of MoUs in the economy, investment, social, and cultural fields.

Indonesia also managed to secure an additional Hajj quota of 20 thousand as a result of the bilateral meeting between President Widodo and Saudi Arabian Prime Minister, Prince Mohammed bin Salman al-Saud, he noted.

Furthermore, Baidlowi said that Amin welcomed the strengthening of bilateral cooperation and placed emphasis on the importance of genuinely implementing agreements reached for the sake of gaining concrete results.

He then added that Amin extended his appreciation for the progress made in the cooperation between the two countries and expressed his willingness to support the implementation of the cooperation in Indonesia by coordinating with the relevant stakeholders.

"The Vice President will hold meetings with the relevant ministries and agencies to discuss the implementation (of the agreements reached)," he informed.

During the meeting, Ambassador Al Mudi was accompanied by his secretary, Jalal Hassan O Almograby.
