Regent of Kotabaru Sayed Jafar said it was a happiness and pride to host the 34th South Kalimantan Karya Bakti Wisata Karang Taruna (the Youth Organization Work Service Tour) Camp as a gathering place of Karang Taruna, who are agents of change and potential leaders in the future.
"I hopes the work service tour camp of Karang Taruna will strengthen friendhsip, communication and interaction among Karang Taruna throughout South Kalimantan and improving the quality character of the youth who will hold strategic position, especially in Kotabaru," he said here, Saturday.
The camp, which took place at the Gedambaan Beach attraction, which is held in the series of Karang Taruna's Month of Service, is to know better of South Kalimantan Province, especially Kotabaru and its diversity community and culture, and to commemorate the 95th Youth Pledge Day in 2023.
Karang Taruna boards and activists from 13 districts and cities in South Kalimantan took park, with 226 Karang Taruna camps, 62 from Social Affairs Office, 25 PKT of districts and cities, 2,759 participants and totally there were 3,068 people attending.

The Provincial Expert Staff for Government, Law and Politics Sulkan said this is a routine agenda as a medium for silaturahmi (good relationship) among Karang Taruna, where they share information and supporting each other to develop and advance the organizations.
"Hopefully this activity will further demonstrate the existence of Karang Taruna, strengthening the spirit of gotong royong (mutual cooperation) to achieve the organizational goals and to provide broad benefits to society," said Sulkan.
Some 12 types of competition enlivened the camp, including competition to create profile, principles of ability, tracking friendship, cleanliness and beauty of tents, sea fish based healthy menu competitions, inter-village youth outfits, and video content ompetitions.
There is also craft competitions, inter-district fishing mania, as well as tug-of-war and social service.
