The Environment Office (DLH) of Banjarmasin, South Kalimantan, has cleaned up tens of tonnes of rubbish from under residents' houses from February to October 2023.
Head Waste Cleaning and Management of the office Marzuki here on Tuesday said cleaning under the houses is a community movement "B'Babasah" which stands for cleaning up waste from under houses.
As many as 2,810 under houses have been cleaned through this program, with a total 55 tonnes of waste collected.
Bang Jack, his nickname, said this program targets 100,000 under houses in all five sub-districts in the city to be cleaned.
He is optimistic that the target can be achieved by the end of the year with a large movement of mutual cooperation from community who helps. "We devide group for each urban village and work every Saturday and Sunday," he said.

Clean up under the house must be done, because land structure in Banjarmasin City mostly swampy, so houses and other buildings are built on stilts with under construction.
Rubbish that piled up under the houses mostly plastic waste that can be carried away by water at high tide.
In fact, waste production in the city, which reaches 600 ton every day, are mostly from households, and some of which is thrown under houses.
Previously, Mayor of Banjarmasin H Ibnu Sina encouraged every sub-district, urban village, neghborhood unit (RT), community unit (RW), could make B'Babasah program a success.
"Hopefuly with this clean up, residents will be healthier, water quality will be healthier, and level of health will increase. In this way, level welfare will also increase," he said.
