Tapin Disaster Mitigation Agency (BPBD) together with firefighters (BPK) has managed to save residents settlements from flames when forest and land fires (karhutla) hit Tatakan Village, Tapin Regency, South Kalimantan. 

Head of Tapin BPBD Raniansyah said the blaze which was only a few steps away from housing was burning brushes. 

"Now that the fire has been extinguished. It affected about 1.5 hectares of land," he said in Rantau, Tuesday.

He confirmed that no residents houses were affected. All process of stamping out, said Raniansyah, ran smoothly.

To be precise, the karhutla point that afternoon was in Neighborhood Unit (RT) of 04, Community Unit 002 in Tatakan Village, South Tapin Sub-district.

What caused the fire, Raniansyah said, it is now being investigated by the local police. 

"We do not know it, the police are in charge," he said.
