Bakti and Pandawan, two villages in Central Hulu Sungai (HST) District, South Kalimantan, won “Sustainable Development Goals” (SDGs) award for Kalimantan Region from the Indonesian Villages, Development of Disadvantaged Regions, and Transmigration (PDTT) Ministry.

The ministry awarded HST's two villages based on an assessment related to competition as well as commemorating 2023 Village SDGs Day which was organized by the ministry.

“We won second and third place in the 2023 Village SDGs competition Kalimantan regional level,” HST Regent Aulia Oktafiandi noted in press statement in Barabai, Tuesday.

The awards were handed over by Head of Information Development of the PDTT Ministry Ivanovich Agusta at the closing ceremony of International Conference on Sustainable Rural Development.

The event with the theme “Strengthening SDGs Desa as a strategic effort for sustaining national economic resilience” was held in Jakarta a few days ago.

“The achievements achievedd by these two villages is expected to have an impact to improve the welfare of the local community,” said Aulia.

He hopes that this award will motivate other village government to improve the guality of sustaible development as the goals of SDGs to improve community welfare.

Meanwhile, Head of Community Empowerment and Village Community Institution of the HST Village Community Empowerment Office (DPMD) Syahrina Juni said that Bakti Village, Batu Benawa Sub-district, won second place with SDGs score of 7, 9 and 13.

Pandawan Village, Pandawan Sub-district, won the third place with SDGs score of 7 and 13.
