The Government of South Kalimantan tries to strengthen stunting handling from the village by mobilizing the maximum role of Human Development Candres (PKM) in villages, Head of Community and Village Empowerment Office Faried Fakhmansyah informed here, Tuesday.

He said the active role of village government should continue to be encouraged to reduce stunting cases.

The office held here in Banjarmasin held a coordination meeting to empower comunity and building capacity related to efforts to reduce stunting in all villages in the province. 
 
"Of course this is according to the instructions  of Governor H Sahbirin Noor who always moves in effort to advance the villages," he said.
 
The coordination meeting, he said, aims to push a reduction in stunting rate in villages, so that it has an impact on increae in community welfare.
 
"We know when public's health status increases then the status of the village will increase and people's prosperity is getting better," he said.

Faried emphasized that Human Development Cadres (KPM) must be more active in carrying out early detection of stunting using e-Human Development Worker (eHDW) application.
 
“This application has indeed been developed by Villages, Development of Disadvantaged Regions, and Transmigration (PDTT) Ministry in monitoring and supporting the improvement of nutrition intervention convergence for stunting prevention to the First 1,000 Days of Life (HPK) families," he expounded.
 
Faried also said that PDTT Ministry has also determined five stunting prevention service package in the village which targets First 1,000 Days of Life households.
 
“Including mother-child health service, integrated nutritional counseling, clean water and sanitation, social protection service, and PAUD service," he said.
 
According to him, this is as an effort by the South Kalimantan Provincial Government to meet the national target of 14 percent of stunting cases for all of Indonesia by 2024.
 
The provincial and the district/city government have succeeded in reducing the prevalence of stunting in synergistic manner significantly from 30 percent in 2021 to 24.6 percent in 2022.
