The City Government of Banjarmasin, South Kalimantan, has retained the Child Friendly City award in Nindya category as the city awarded by the Women’s Empowerment and Child Protection Ministry.
Banjarmasin Mayor H Ibnu Sina here on Sunday said that he received the award from the Minister of Women’s Empowerment and Child Protection I Gusti Ayu Bintang Puspayoga in Semarang, Saturday night.
The Minister said that the number of awardees of the 2023 Child-Friendly City Award increases as compared to the previous year's edition.
"This (positive trend) reflects the strong commitment of regional leaders and other stakeholders to ensuring the fulfillment of children's rights and protection in their respective regions," she remarked at the award ceremony in Semarang City, Central Java, on Saturday (July 22).
Minister Puspayoga presented the 2023 award to a total of 360 districts/cities in four different categories.
She also awarded the Child-Friendly Award to as many as 14 provinces, including South Kalimantan, for their tremendous efforts in encouraging districts and cities to become child-friendly regions.

Banjarmasin, Ibnu Sina said, had won the same award in 2022 and he was grateful that the city administration has retained it this year.
"Banjarmasin strives to raise its ranking next year to the main category," Ibnu Sina pointed out.
However, he was grateful that the devotion of the city government to provide services, facilities, and policies to be friendly to children has been appreciated by the central government with great pride.
The award, he said, is dedicated for the children in the City of Banjarmasin.
"There are still several indicators havenot been met. We look forward that next year the whole related stakeholders could work together to improve to achieve the main category," he said.
