The South Kalimantan Health Office declared that 10 districts and cities in the province have been free of malaria until this year.

Head of Disease Prevention and Control of the South Kalimantan Health Service dr Anhar Ihwan said that this means that the infectous disease that became a problem in the community is no longer found.

Ten districts and cities are now free from the female anopheles mosquito that responsible for malaria transmission.

The ten districts and cities are Banjarmasin city, Banjabaru city, Banjar District, Tapin District, central Hulu Sungai District.
 
Then South Hulu Sungai District, North Hulu Sungai District, Tabalong District, Barito Kuala District and Tanah Laut District.
 
"(But) there are still three regencies that are not yet free from malaria," he said.

The three districts that the Health Office now strive to eliminate malaria until there is no case of it are Balangan District, Tanah Bumbu District, and Kotabaru District.
 
The maximum efforts to eliminate malaria in the province is to support a malaria free Indonesia by 2030.
 
"Because of the national policy, all malaria sufferers found by the health facilities must be confirmed and treated," he pointed out.
 
As well as, Anhar continued, investigation and evaluation carried out to  ensure that it is not trasmitted to others.
 
"The South Kalimantan and the districts, cities' Health Office continue to intensive coordinating all matters of handling and prevention of malaria," he said.
