A member of the Kotabaru Legislative Council (DPRD) Gewsima Mega Putra admitted that there is no clarity about the continuation of the construction of Pulau Laut Bridge.

The bridge that is developed to connecting the island with the mainland of Kalimantan is planned to cost IDR3 trillion.

"Quite a lot of government budget has been absorbed for the construction, from the approach bridge work to the pile installation work," he said in Kotabaru, Tuesday.

According to him, looking at the budget table of the 2023 regional budget (APBD) there is no allocation for the construction.

There are many benefits if the construction continued, not only it will facilitate the access of people to the mainland but it will encourage the growth of economy.

"(Indeed), from a cost standpoint, to go passing the bridge it will cost may be quite high just like the Suramadu Bridge," he said.

On the other hand, if the work is not continued, the construction will be a waste.

"The bridge will be a pride for the residents of Kotabaru and Tanah Bumbu and it will become a new tourist destination," he said.

As well as being a connecting between islands, the bridge which has a span of about 5.5 kilometers will be the tourist attraction, just like Suramadu Bridge in East java.

"We really hope that the construction of the bridge to be followed up by the government so it can be completed quickly," he said.
