Amuntai, South Kalimantan (AntaranewsKalsel) - The North Hulu Sungai (HSU) karate and pencak silat athletes have won international achievements.
Head of Sport Department of HSU Youth, Sport and Tourism Agency Fakhruzzaini in Amuntai on Thursday said the international accomplishments achieved in 2015 by successfully winning a bronze for pencak silat while karate won a silver and a bronze.
"Thank God existing athletes from HSU achieved the karate international on behalf of Amelia and Lulu S as well as pencak silat on behalf of Rijani," said Fakhruzzani.
Other sports also gained regional and national level achievement during 2015, said Fakhruzzaini, were tennis, chess, NPC, athletics, sepak takraw and Wrestling.
As an appreciation and respect, local government rewarded them with coaching money and bonuses. Not only for the athletes, but reward also given to their coach.
"Coaching money and bonuses are for athletes and coaches as well as outside region training with a total cost amounted to Rp180 million," he said.
One of the athletes who is given training opportunities outside for a year is a lawn tennis athlete Elma Malinda with funding from the government of HSU Rp30 million.
