This year Adaro Group will focus on handling stunting in 28 villages in Balangan District considering the high cases in this region, said CSR Department Head of PT Adaro Indonesia Leni Marlina.
With the total 315 intervention targets to achieve a stunting-free Balangan, the Adaro Group allocated IDR1.2 billion in aid fund, she said at the kick off of the stunting reduction acceleration program here on Wednesday (May 11, 2022).
"Adaro Group in collaboration with accompanying consultants will provide assistance both spesific intervention directly targeting high-risk pregnant women, stunted babies under 2 years, and breastfeeding mothers who have stunted babies," Leni expounded.
Including sensitive intervention are food security and five pillars of Community-Based Total Sanitation in Balangan.
In addition, she added, this program is also an increase capacity of technical actors and assistance to stunting intervention targets.
“Hopefully this program to run as expected, and the acceleration of reducing stunting rate in Balangan will be achieved quickly,” said Leni Marlina.
Based on Elektronic data for Recording Communiy-Based Nutrition Reporting (EPPGBM), the stunting rate here in the previous year was 25 percent, but in early 2022 it fell to 17.9 percent.
The District Government of Balangan keeps it commitment to mitigate stunting with the support of all stakeholders, includingAdaro Group, namely PT Adaro Indonesia, Balangan Coal, PT Saptaindra Sejati, and Adaro Bangun Negeri Foundation as outlined in the signing of the joint commitment.
The joint effort was carried out in a forum called the Working Group of Balanting (which stands for Balangan fights against stunting) chaired by Balangan Regional Secretary and Head of Bappeda as the deputy chairman.
