Bogor Mayor Bima Arya Sugiarto has decided to stop face-to-face learning (PTM) at all school levels in the area for an unspecified duration due to a rise in COVID-19 infections among students and teachers.
"PTM will be stopped for an undetermined time or until the cases decline. We have completed the vaccination of children (in the 12-18 age group), including the full dose vaccination of teachers and school staff," Sugiarto informed after a coordination meeting on the COVID-19 spike on Monday.
The Bogor city government will intensify vaccinations for children aged 6–11 years until the second dose provision is complete as well as organize booster vaccinations for teachers and school staff, he added.
According to the Bogor City Health Service, the figure for additional positive COVID-19 cases among teachers and students in the city has been updated from 36 to 45, he noted.
Thirty-six of the positive cases have been detected in nine schools, comprising five high schools, three junior high schools, and one elementary school, the mayor informed.

At the high school level, Regina Pacis has reported one case, Bogor 6 State High School 15 cases, Bina Insani 10 cases, Bogor 2 State High school one case, and Bogor 1 State High School two cases, he said.
At the junior high school level, Bogor 6 State Junior High School has recorded four cases, Bogor 2 State Junior High School one case, Bogor 3 State Junior High School one case, and Julang Elementary school one case, he added.
The updated data has found 45 positive cases in these schools, he informed.
Sugiarto said that the overall surge in COVID-19 cases in the city, which currently total 115, has surpassed the prediction made by the Bogor City COVID-19 Task Force.
Earlier, the Bogor COVID-19 Task Force had estimated Bogor would record 100 COVID-19 cases in February 2022.
"Therefore we have agreed to postpone PTM at all school levels because the number of cases is very high," Sugiarto said.
