Head of Tabalong Health Agency Taufiqurrahman Hamdie declared that 162,229 people or 78.17 percent of the district's 194,824 targets have been vaccinated from COVID-19.

"The plan is there will be an additional of 27,000 from the vaccination of children aged 6 to 12 years," Taufik expounded in a coordination meeting to expedite the achievement of vaccination which was attended by sub-district heads, sub-district military commander, sub-district police and related official of the district government here on Thursday.

Of 12 sub-districts, three had less than 70 percent coverage, namely Tanta, Banua Lawas, and Kelua.

Taufik added that the vaccination for elderly has reached 56.1 percent or 7,986 people in the first stage and 2,971 people more in the second stage.

In the coordination meeting, Regent Anang Syakhfiani asked the sub-district heads to present their strategies in their efforts to accelerate vaccination until the village level.

"A special strategy is needed so we can meet the target in the second stage," Anang pointed out.

A number of sub-district head acknowledged that the obstacles for health reason had caused the low achievement of COVID-19 vaccination for elderly.

Head of Muara Uya Sub-district Abdul Wahid, among others, said thatabout 20 percent of elderly could not be vaccnated for health reasons. "In fact we go down to the village level, including remote areas, to expedite the achievement of vaccination," he explained.
