The Ministry of Education, Culture, Research, and Technology (Kemendikbudristek) has launched digital transformation applications and an Artificial Intelligence (AI) Center for accelerating development in the AI sector, an official informed on Monday.

"Because in 2021, we observed that there were thousands of university students who joined the micro-credential program which requires computing power," Nizam said.

"This is why we needed an AI Center to accelerate the Merdeka Belajar Kampus Merdeka (Freedom in Learning and Campus) program and prepare digital talents in the artificial intelligence sector," he affirmed.

Lecturers and university students can utilize the services available within the AI Centre for a student project or for learning activities, he said.

In addition to the AI Centre, the ministry has also unveiled the Institutional Information System (SIAGA), which aims to bolster services from the ministry, he informed.

"We are also unveiling the One Office service which is an integration of five existing services within the ministry (which will be offered) through a single platform," he added.

"What is most notable is that this application is the product of children who attended the internship program within the ministry," he informed.

Moreover, there are also the single sign-on facility that allows users to access services within the ministry and live services that allow for easier access to services within the institution that are being offered by the ministry, he noted.

Another ministry official, Paristiyanti Nurwardani, said that the services were created to improve the productivity of lecturers and university students in research and learning.

"We truly want to make higher education a success through the Merdeka Belajar Kampus Merdeka," she affirmed.

Earlier, the ministry called for the use of technology, such as Quick Response Codes (QR codes) for monitoring the spread of COVID-19 in the education sector.
