The Regent of Banjar Saidi Mansyur is trying to arrange a strategy to increase the number of people receiving the COVID-19 vaccine jab by accelerating vaccination to reach the target of 70 percent. 

"We will our best to make the acceleration of vaccination in Banjar District continues to be carried out and becomes the attention of all parties so we can reach the 70 percent target by the end of December 2021," he said, Monday. 

The Regent made his address when chairing weekly coordination meeting here at the Regent's Office accompanied by Deputy Regent Said Idrus Al-Habsyie and Banjar District Secretary M Hilman.

According to him, among the strategies that have been applied was giving rewards to sub-districts and villages.

Previously, the district government has also prepared umroh gifts for lucky residents with the aim of attracting public interest to be willing to be vaccinated to strengthen their own immune system. 

"These two strategies have been implemented and in the past few weeks there has been an increase in vaccination achievement, but the increase was still low, so it must be further increased," he pointed out. 

Another strategy that has also been applied was asking for additional personnel from the South Kalimantan Provincial Government to assist the Banjar Health Agency in pursuing the vaccination target.

"We ask all SKPD (government working units) to play a more active role in increasing vaccination coverage by inviting people to be vaccinated," he said. 

Head of Banjar Health Agency dr Diauddin said that the vaccination coverage has reached 43.39 percent, with 191,880 people having received the first vaccine dose. While the stock of vaccines was 32,458 doses consisting of Astrazenaca 17,330, Pfizer 5,688, and Sinovac 9,440.
