The South Kalimantan National Paralympic Committee (NPC) until November 11, 2021, has collected as many as 32 gold medals at the XVI National Paralympic Week (Peparnas) in Papua.

"Two more gold medals then we meet our target at the PapuaPeparnas," said Chairman of South Kalimantan NPC H Ahmad Firdaus from Papua, Thursday.

According to him, with the addition of 8 gold medals today, the South Kalimantan contingent has collected 32 gold medals since the beginning of Peparnas (6-11 November) from the target of 35 gold medals from 10 sports.

"Our athletes have fought tremendously so far, we are optimistic we can exceed the target," he said.

Firdaus said that there are still South Kalimantan NPC athletes competing until Saturday, November 13, 2021, so there is still a chance to add to the medal collection.

South Kalimantan NPC fielded 135 athletes in the grand national sports match for people with disabilities which takes place from 6-15 November 2021.

So far, the South Kalimantan contingent has won a total of 91 medals, with details of 32 gold medals, 25 silver medals, and 34 bronze medals.

"The most medal winners are athletics with 12 gold medals and swimming with 11 gold medals," he said.

South Kalimantan contingent remains in position 4 of the standings under Central Java (3), West Java (2), and Papua (1).

"We continue to fight to survive in the top five," he said.
