Two South Kalimantan National Paralympic Committee (NPC) swimmers, Norlatifah and Mulyadi, who both are from Banjarbaru, broke the record at the XVI National  Paralympic Week (Peparnas) in Papua.

"Both our athletes won the gold medals and their speed broke the national record," said South Kalimantan NPC swimming coach Zuhriannor, who is familiarly called Pak Ateng, from Papua, on Wednesday.

Norlatifah of S9 classification in the women's 50-meter backstroke set a record time of 00.43.83 seconds at Peparnas.

"The national record is 00.43,83 second," he said.

Meanwhile, Mulyadi of S6 classification in the men's 100-meter breaststroke match recorded a time of 1.49,49 minutes.

"While the national record is 1.48,58 minutes," he said.

The two athletes were from Banjarbaru City. He admitted that they both have extraordinary talent.

"Not only these two athletes, the others are also extraordinary. They have given achievements that make a good name of the region at Papua Peparnas," he pointed out.

So far, he added, the South Kalimantan swimming athletes have collected 8 gold medals, 7 silver medals, and 5 bronze medals.

"We have still time and many competitions for our athletes to make their achievements," said Pak Ateng.
