The Meteorology, Climatology, and Geophysics Agency (BMKG) through the Syamsudin Noor Banjarmasin Meteorology Station warned about La Nina activities that could trigger extreme weather in South Kalimantan.
"People should be vigilant, especially to out when it rain," said a staff forecaster at the Syamsudin Noor Banjarmasin Meteorology Station Muhammad Shaaimul Qadri in Banjarbaru, Wednesday.
He expounded that La Nina is a natural phenomenon that causes air to feel colder or higher rainfall.
La Nina is one of the factors that cause the rainy season, in addition to monsoon winds.
Besides La Nina, which affects the southern part of Kalimantan, the presence of a shear line in South Kalimantan resulted in the accumulation of air masses and also triggers the growth of clouds that cause bad weather.
