South Kalimantan posted inflation of 0.35 percent in October 2021 with a Consumer Price Index (CPI) of 108.04.
"Banjarmasin contributed 0.39 percent inflation with a CPI of 107.87 and Tanjung 0.32 percent with 108.48 CPI, while Kotabaru had a deflation of 0.07 percent with a CPI of 109.24," said Head of South Kalimantan Central Statistics Agency (BPS) Yos Rusdiansyah in a press statement received by Antara in Banjarbaru on Tuesday.
He said that the inflation caused by increase prices indicated by nine indexes of expenditure groups, namely food, beverage, and tobacco group of 0.60 percent.
Transportation group 0.58 percent, clothing and footwear group 0.42 percent, tools, equipment, and routine maintenance group 0.37 percent, the housing group 0.26 percent.
"However two other groups, namely education, and health did not change," he said.
The commodities whose prices rose with the highest share of inflation included tilapia fish, air transportation, snakehead fish, broiler meat, cooking oil, and household fuel.
Inflation was also triggered by the increased price of papaya, red chili, salted fish, and women's Muslim wear.
Based on the calendar year, in October 2021 South Kalimantan experienced 1.19 percent inflation, while year on year inflation rate (October 2021 to October 2020) was 2.69 percent.
