Banjarbaru, S Kalimantan (ANTARA) - The Central Statistics Agency (BPS) recorded 0.17 percent inflation in South Kalimantan in July 2021 with 107,82 Consumer Price Index (CPI) and inflation hit three indicator cities in the province.
Head of South Kalimantan BPS Yos Rusdiansyah in its official report on statistics in Banjarbaru on Wednesday said that inflation in Banjarmasin stood at 0.19 percent, while Tanjung and Kotabaru recorded the same inflation of 0.12 percent.
"Inflation occurred due to price increase as indicated by the increase in nine expenditure groups with CPI rising from 107.63 percent to 107.82 percent," he said.
Based on the calendar year, South Kalimantan's inflation in Juli 2021 was 0,98 percent, while year-on-year inflation (July 2021 to July 2020) was 2.64 percent.
The group of recreation, sports, and culture rose 2.95 percent followed by the education group 1.87 percent, and the health group 0.38 percent.
Equipment, tools, and routine households increased by0.35 percent, cloth and footwear group 0.21 percent, and information communication and financial service group 0.12 percent.

Meanwhile, the index of other groups, such as housing, water, electricity, the group of food and beverage supply/restaurant, the group of personal care, and other services did not change.
Commodities with the highest inflation share in July 2021 include peda fish, shallots, school admission fees for junior high school, elementary school textbooks, and tuna fish.
While commodities that fell in price with the highest deflation share include chicken meat, eggs, tilapia, long bean, and perfume.
Six cities in Kalimantan were hit by inflation, while six others experienced deflation. The highest inflation was in Singkawang 1.58 percent, and the lowest in Sampit 0.01 percent.
