The South Kalimantan Bureau of Antara National News Agency (LKBN Antara) in cooperation with Mubadala Petroleum and the Upstream Oil and Gas Regulatory Taskforce (SKK Migas) held a writing contest for school and university students in Kotabaru.
Chief of the South Kalimantan Bureau of Antara Nurul Aulia Badar said that one of the aims of the contest is to boost students' enthusiasm for learning which has been held virtually for quite a long time due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
"This activity is also a benchmark to see how far the enthusiasm of young generation in Kotabaru to keep learning and learning, especially writing," he said as reported on Tuesday.
Thus the competition was entitled "keep working in the midst of the COVID-19 pandemic" with four sub-themes, health, environment, economy, and government and corporate governance.
According to the former chief of the Malaysian Bureau of Antara, the interest of students in Kotabaru in works, especially writing, is quite high, as evidenced by the number of participants which reached 109 whereas the target was only 100.
"Indeed, there are still many writings that do not meet the expectation, but it could be followed up in the form of training or others so they become professional writers," he said.
Mubadala CSR Ruly Benaputra added that this activity is a form of the company's concern for improving human resources in the field of education.
"Through the writing contest we will find the seeds of writers from Kotabaru to spring up," he said.
A number of Kotabaru's sons who had been recruited by Mubadala Petroleum as employees showed that their human resources have met the standards, and this needs to be given a place.
He said that the company's concern that was packed in the CSR program was also manifested in the form of scholarship assistance for students in a number of universities in South Kalimantan.
SKK Migas representative Danang Agung hopes that the younger generation in Kotabaru to continue to be enthusiastic about their work, one of which is through positive writings.
"If you want to be a great leader, start by writing," he said.
Deputy Regent of Kotabatu H Andi Rudi Latif said that the progress of a region is largely determined by the involvement of all stakeholders, including the press.
