Nur Asia Uno, the wife of Minister of Tourism and Creative Economy Sandiaga Uno, said that proboscis monkey (bekantan) conservation will be campaigned at the international fashion show Indonesia Modest Fashion Week (IMFW) 2021 with the theme Save Bekantan.

"To let the world community know more about bekantans and their conservation efforts, it will be campaigned through fashion events in several countries, such as America, Russia, and Italia," she said in Banjarmasin, Saturday.

As the initiator of IMFW, Mpok Nur (Nur Asia Uno's nickname), invites all levels of society to jointly protect the bekantan whose population is currently threatened with extinction.

“Bekantan is a rare animal and only exists on the Island of Kalimantan (Borneo). If we don't save them, who else? If not now, when? Bekantan is a creature of Allah Subhanahu WaTa'ala presented to us to be protected,” she said.

Meanwhile, Jeny Tjahyawati, founder of Indonesia Modest Fashion Week and the General Chair of Indonesia Modest Fashion Designer IMFD, said that this year's Indonesia fashion event is to bring fashion collaboration with the natural environment to Miami, United States.

At the direction of Mpok Nur, she said, the IMFW event is made specifically with the design of bekantan icon for Save Bekantan.
