Banjarmasin Mayor H Ibnu Sina stated that the President of Indonesia will decide the continuation of the level in the enforcement of public activity restriction (PPKM) in the city on October 18, 2021.
Ibnu Sina remarked after attending an online coordination meeting with Coordinating Economic Affairs Minister Airlangga Hartarto, Saturday.
"The status of PPKM level of our city is still waiting for a decision from the President Joko Widodo, which is planned to be announced on Monday (Oct 18, 2021)," he said.
Even though, he said, the result of the assessment carried out by the ministry showed that the level of the restriction has dropped from 4 to 2. "But we don't want to rush to announce it," Ibnu Sina said.
The reason, he continued, the enforcement of PPKM, including the determination of the level, is the authority of the central government.
The status of Banjarmasin City is still at level 4 PPKM until October 18 together with 7 other cities in Indonesia.
Ibnu Sina said that in today's coordination meeting, he explained to Minister Airlangga Hartarto that Banjarmasin carries on to improve vaccination achievements.
He hopes that the vaccine stock is sufficient to be distributed to the whole residents of the city.
In order to avoid the shortage of vaccine reserves, the Banjarmasin City Government has sent a letter requesting additional vaccines to the ministry.
