Riam Kiwa dam, which will be one of the efforts to reduce flooding in South Kalimantan, is planned to be built in Angkipih Village and Paramasan Bawah Village, Banjar District.
Currently, the development progress is running in parallel with the process of land acquisition to determine the location.
“Some things we have to do right. First, determine the location, which we will be handed over to the Banjar government,” said Regional Secretary of South Kalimantan Roy Rizali Anwar after the Riam Kiwa Dam planning coordination meeting in Banjarbaru, Wednesday.
“Second, other matters related to internal problems, we jointly will find a solution that does not harm any parties. Maybe we will ask the opinion of the prosecutor's office, the police, or others so that the development will be realized immediately," he explained.
Regarding the determination of the location that was delegated to the Banjar government, Banjar District Secretary HM Hilman said it needs several steps to complete the land acquisition process first.
It includes inventory based on land acquisition documents from the River Management Agency of Kalimantan (BWS) 2. Next is to issue a letter of notification for the affected surrounding communities.
After that, the development plan is submitted for the interest of the public, then the next stage is public consultation to get approval, whether the people are willing if the land is used for the public interest.
If an agreement occurs, the recommendation to the location determination process can begin. If the agreement has not been reached, it will conduct a public consultation again. However, if it still fails, it is necessary to form a study team.

Regarding the target of determining location, he hopes it will be completed in early August.
Meanwhile, the Head of BWS 2 Fikri Abdurrahman said that the land acquisition process is still going hand in hand with the other stages.
“So everything runs parallel. We really hope that by the end of this year we will start working in the field, but this process involves many parties,” he explained.
He also added that the Riam Kiwa Dam construction process will take four to five years.
