The Housing and Settlement Areas Agency (Disperkim) of Central Hulu Sungai (HST) District stated that there are still more than four thousand houses that are unfit for habitation (RTLH) until 2021.

"From the latest verification, the number is 4,993 spread across 11 sub-district throughout HST," said Head of the agency's Perkim Division Ahmad Syafa'at after the agency's 2021-2026 strategic plan forum in Barabai, Wednesday (June 2, 2021).

That amount, according to him, is the target of the strategic plan for completion in the next five years. Although he acknowledged, the number is likely to increase every year.

However, during the last five years until 2020, the number of houses have been rebuilt or renovated through the house renovation program, which funds sourced from the HST local budget, the provincial, and the state budget (APBN) were 4,555 units.

"The most were in Barabai Sub-district with a total of 1,743 units and the least was in Hantakan Sub-district 48 units," he said.

The most RTLH proposed to be renovated this year were in Labuan Amas Utara Sub-district 915 units and the least were in Barabai Sub-district only 144 units.

He hopes the quota from the provincial government and the central government for HST to increase every year so that the target for the next five years can be realized.

Apart from the RTLH target, the agency in its strategic plan also focuses on providing adequate houses, infrastructure for decent housing, slum area infrastructure (to reduce slum), structuring slum areas, habitable houses for victims of disaster and relocation program from the government, including the government land issues. "Those are the target of our strategic plan for the next five years," said Syafaat.
