Four Indonesian military (TNI) personnel suffered gunshot wounds after an armed separatist terrorist group intercepted them at Yapimakot Village, Serambakon Sub-district, Pegunungan Bintang District, Papua Province, on Tuesday night.

"It is true that an incident occurred in Pegunungan Bintan District that resulted in four TNI personnel from the vulnerable area security task force being injured," Chief of the 1715 Yahukimo District Military Command Lieutenant Colonel Christian Ireuw stated on Wednesday morning.

The security agencies are conducting a manhunt for members of the armed separatist terrorist group.

A member of the Nemangkawi task force was also injured during a firefight with the armed separatist terrorist group in Makki Village, Puncak District, early on Tuesday.

Chief of the Papua Provincial Police Inspector General Fakhiri stated in Jayapura on Tuesday that the member of the Nemangkawi task force, who suffered a gunshot wound on his foot, was taken to the Ilage Regional General Hospital.

Makki is one of the villages serving as the armed separatist terrorist group's stronghold. The Nemangkawi task force attempted to approach and enter the village where several leaders of the armed separatist terrorist group, including Lingkar, Seltius Waker, and Peni Murib, live.

"The firefight reportedly lasted until afternoon," Fakhiri stated.

Fakhiri noted that the Nemangkawi law enforcement task force was also conducting a sweep operation at Mayuben Village earlier controlled by the armed separatist terrorist group.

Over the course of the past four months, Papua has borne the brunt of a string of violent attacks by armed separatist terrorist groups targeting innocent civilians in districts, such as Puncak and Intan Jaya.

The armed groups often employ hit-and-run tactics against Indonesian security personnel while unleashing acts of terror against civilians to trigger fear among the people.
