The Balangan District Government has asked village officials to play an active role in reporting to the COVID-19 Task Force every incoming guest from outside to anticipate a surge in coronavirus patients after Eid.
Head of Balangan Health Office Erwan MKL here on Saturday said that during Eid the agency is tighter in overseeing guests who enter from outside by involving all elements from the village, sub-district to the district.
"I ask the muspika (the subdistrict consultative leadership forum) element and village apparatus to be more active in reporting every guest who comes from outside, so we can stem the surge in COVID-19 patients," he said.
Meanwhile, he pointed out, all puskesmas (community health centers) in each sub-district and all health personnel are alerted to anticipate the spike.

President Director of Balangan Hospital Dr. Ferry said so far there has been no surge of COVID-19 patients. However, his party remains vigilant with various possibilities, including by preparing additional beds.
"The total beds for COVID-19 patients currently is 43 units, if for example there is a surge we will add more," he said.
Based on the South Kalimantan COVID-19 Task Force data, from Friday to Saturday there were no additional cases in Balangan. The positive cases were 1,640, recoveries 1,573, while 32 people were being treated, 35 died, and 5 suspects.
