Kotabaru, South Kalimantan (AntaranewsKalsel) - Some fishermen in Kotabaru district in the last few days began to go to sea to catch fish by using bagan, a bait-fishing platform commonly found in Indonesia.

Utuh, a fisherman in the Sarangtiung village, on Sunday said it have been a few days fishermen began to gain catch quite a lot.

"Quite a lot catch this time compared to a few days ago," said Utuh, who headed the boat preparing to go to sea.

He admitted, the catch with bagan is still around 30 kilograms of bilis fish or anchovies, mixed with other fish. A week earlier, the catch just enough to cover the cost of oil, for the light in the bagan, even sometimes still less.

He admitted, this is what so call as "musim kena" or season of getting a lot of fish, so many bagan fishermen in Sarangtiung begin down to sea.

"Since the start of the season, bilis catch so many," said bagan skipper, Hj Normiah.

Meanwhile, a few months ago hundreds of Sarangtiung fishermen's bagan swept severely damaged by strong winds from the east.

Due to strong winds almost all the bagan in the northern region of Pulaulaut (Kotabaru) severely damaged resulting in losses estimated at hundreds of millions rupiah.

To rebuild their bagan, fishermen have to pay more than Rp20 million each.
