The Banjarmasin Education Office stated that all elementary schools (SD) carry out face-to-face exams for grade 6 beginning today until April 10.

"All SD are performing a face-to-face exam, we have been monitoring them," said Head of Elementary School Development of the Education Office Nuryadi here, Monday.

He said he had observed the state elementary schools of SDN Pemurus Dalam 1, 2, 3, and 4 in South Banjarmasin to ensure that their implementation met the COVID-19 health protocol.

"There is even one student at SDN Pamurus Dalam 3 who does his exam alone outside the classroom because his parents want it to be like that," said Nuryadi.

Of course, he said, it doesn't matter if parents afraid that their children prone to be exposed to COVID-19, if they gather in the classroom with friends even though they have kept their distance.

"Even at home (it allowed) if parents are worried, there is no coercion," he said.

In general, he stated, the schools had implemented the requirements to carry out face-to-face the exam according to health protocol, namely by obliging students to wear mask, maintaining distance in the classroom, and washing hands with soap before entering the classroom.

He acknowledged that it is not easy disciplining SD students to comply with health protocol, but all teachers and parents have done their best.

"We ask the public to also supervise the implementation," said Nuryadi.

Chairman of Commission IV of the city's DPRD Noorlatifah asked that the final exam for both elementary dan junior high schools be closely monitored, not only in the school environment.

"What becomes a concern when school leaves, they are vulnerable to gather outside. It must be anticipated," said the Golkar politician.
