Tanah Laut Regent HM Sukamta said that the district has recorded an increase by 1,213 COVID-19 cases from December 23, 2020, to March 16, 2021, making the total case to 2,457.
"We previously have 1,244 cases of COVID-19 in Tanah Laut. Of 2,457 total cases (now), 2,198 people were declared recovered," HM Sukamta remarked in the virtual dissemination of COVID-19 safe village here on Wednesday (Mar 17, 2021).
He said that the district has so far recorded 66 death toll from the novel coronavirus disease or COVID-19.
The Regent pointed out that the data indicated that the transmission of coronavirus in the district has been very fast.
"It should be noted for the village head to protect the village, so it can avoid the rapid transmission of COVID-19," he said.

As an effort to fight the COVID-19 with an increasingly rapid transmission in Tanah Laut, the district government has carried out a vaccination program.
"Vaccination will be given to public service, including the village head," he said.
Sukamta said that each village is expected to have a strategic plan to control the rapid transmission of COVID-19.
"Thus it is important for us to implement the micro-scale of public activities restriction (PPKM) in the village," he emphasized.
The socialization was attended by the Head of the Village Community Empowerment (DPMD Tala) as well as virtually attended by all village governments in Tanah Laut.
