Head of Banjarmasin Health Agency Machli Riyadi said that teachers are targeted to get COVID vaccine jabs at the second phase of the vaccination program.

"Teachers are also vaccinated, they are included in the category of public service," he said here, Tuesday.

However,  Machli reminded, it will take place in stages, owing Banjarmasin received only 1,490 vials or equivalent of 14,900 doses for only 7,450 people for twice shots in the second phase.

"We hope teachers to be patients, not all of them can be vaccinated, because other groups, such as army and police, are also in the public service category," he explained.

He hopes all residents of the city to keep applying health protocol, both those who have been vaccinated and those who have not because the spread of COVID-19 in the city is still high. The total positive cases in Banjarmasin has reached 5,519.
