The District Secretary of Tanah Laut Dahnial Kifli expressed his gratitude to the Rector of Lambung Mangkurat University (ULM) Prof. Dr. H. Sutarto Hadi who directly handed over aid to flood victims in Kurau Sub-district.

"This is really encouraging, the chancellor comes down to see our village directly. In a rainy condition, he really cares about taking the time to come to Tanah Laut," said Dahnial, Saturday.

The Secretary representing Regent H Sukamta symbolically received assistance from the Indonesian Rectors Forum (FRI) worth IDRR100 million which Sutarto handed over during his visit to the still flooded Kurau Village.

Dahnial acknowledged that there are still three villages in Kurau Sub-district affected by high tides, namely Kurau, Handil Negara, and Kali Besar.

Thus, assistance here is still highly expected, especially for those who cannot work normally.

"Every assistance comes, we ask the village chief to manage it, so it really on target and not to overlap. Make sure the recipient is a citizen who really needs help," he said.

The visit of ULM Rector and entourage became special for Dahnial, who is an alumnus of the ULM Master (S2) of Public Administration.

"The Chancellor is my teacher who always gives guidance. Alhamdulilah, he is now in Bumi Tuntung Pandang (Tanah Laut) to ease the burden of the people of Tanah Laut who were hit by floods," said the former head of South Kalimantan Tourism Office.

Sutarto, as a member of the FRI Advisory Council, said that the assistance from FRI consisted of cash of IDR70 million and IDR30 million in the form of 200 packages containing sarong, stationery, rice 5 kg, cooking oil 1 liter, and sugar 1 kg which were worth IDR150 thousand.

During his visit to Kurau, the chancellor also handed over food packages assistance from the ULM Student Executive Board (BEM) and the ULM FKIP Social Education Study Program raising from care for flood disaster in South Kalimantan.
