The South Kalimantan DPRD's Commission II overseeing economy and finance, who also commissioning agriculture, wants the integrated plantation and livestock business here to continue to grow.
Chairman of the commission Imam Suprastowo stated this in Banjarmasin, before making a visit to Tanah Bumbu (Tanbu) District January 4-6, 2021.
"On the occasion of the visit this time, we want to see the development of the integrated plantation and livestock business in Tanbu," he said in response to Antara South Kalimantan.
The reason is that large private companies are developing integrated plantation and livestock business in Tanbu, continued the two-period member of South Kalimantan DPRD.
The representative of the people from the electoral district of South Kalimantan VII (Banjarbaru City and Tanah Laut District) hoped that integrated plantation and livestock business in Tanbu could be a model or example for other districts in the province.
"With an area of approximately 37,000 square kilometers, in terms of land South Kalimantan has the potential to develop the integrated livestock-plantation business," continued the senior politician of PDIP.
Likewise from the commercial point of view and then for meat, such as cattle, buffalo, and goat, for South Kalimantan it is still possible for the integrated plantation and livestock business, he said.
"Especially that South Kalimantan, which is now has a population of more than four million spread across 13 districts and cities, is not yet self-sufficient or still bring in the need for meat from outside the province," he said.
"The availability of food in South Kalimantan is only surplus in poultry meat, eggs, and rice, thus we have no problem with these commodities," said Imam Suprastowo quoting the information from the local Plantation and Animal Husbandry Agency (Disbunak) and Agriculture, Food Crops, and Horticulture Agency.
