A number of TNI and Polri personnel in di North Hulu Sungai (HSU) District took time to donate their blood while preparing to secure the 2020 regional election.
The blood donation activity was held at the District Military Headquarters of 1001 Amuntai (Makodim 1001 Amuntai) in collaboration with the Indonesian Red Cross (PMI) and medical officers of the PCR Lab of the Pambalah Batung Amuntai General Hospital.
"We carry out the blood donation activity in commemoration of the Army Fighting Day ," said Commander of 1001 Amuntai/Balangan Military Command Lt.Col. Inf. Ali Ahmad Satriyadi here, Tuesday (Dec 8, 2020).
The blood donation was not only participated by Army soldiers, but also by a number of police personnel.
According to an officer of the Pambalah Batung Hospital Akhmad Rizani, blood donation activities during the COVID-19 pandemic have indeed decreased.
"Fortunately, patients who need blood transfusions are also reduced," he said.
Rizani said the health protocol procedure for blood donation are quite strict to prevent COVID-19 transmission, including prospective donors must pass a rapid test.
Meanwhile, blood collected from donors must pass the stages of medical examination, before it officially stored and to be used for patients who need it.
"So there is no need to worry if the blood taken from donors contains germs,viruses, and so on," Rizani explained.
Not all bag blood meet the requirements for use. Even if the volume is less than the stipulated, the bag blood will not be used even though they had been clinically tested.
He said that during the pandemic only KPU office had carried out blood donation, government offices or other institutions had not yet.
