South Kalimantan Police handed out thousands of staple food packages and masks to assist the affected people in commemorating the 65th Anniversary of Bhayangkara Traffic on Thursday.
"We hope people can feel the social service on this Traffic Day," said Police Chief Ins. Gen. Nico Afinta in Banjarmasin.
As many as 2,450 staple food packages distributed by traffic police right to the homes of poor households. They also came to hand over the aid directly to people working on the street, including pedicab drivers, and drivers of various public transportations.
According to the police chief, the door to door system is more effective in order to be right on target to the poor who really need it.
"During the COVID-19 pandemic, many people shouted they had difficulties meeting their daily basic needs. Hopefully, this assistance will help our brothers," said Nico who was accompanied by Deputy Police Chief Brig. Gen. Mohamad Agung Budijono.
In addition to basic food assistance, as many as 6,050 masks were also distributed by Directorate of Traffic for educating the public to always comply with the health protocol.
Director of Traffic Sr Comr Andi Azis Nizar added, in the moment of Traffic Anniversary the Traffic Police Corps will further intensify information technology-based public service or e-policing.
"The implementation of e-Policing in the traffic function in the digital era toward the Golden Indonesia 2045 is our spirit to improve the quality of performance. Thus police services are carried out quickly, precisely, accurately, transparently, accountably, informatively, and easily accessible," he said.
