Sherrie was the only woman, when Perkumpulan Daun Hijau (PHD) or Green Leaf Association volunteers sprayed disinfectant in the night on Jalan Perdagangan, as part of their public devotion related to an effort to cut the transmission of COVID-19 in the city.
The woman, whose full name is Seri Sugiarti, SPd, born in Banjarmasin in 1980, willing to leave her children and husband only to provide her service for the community in combating worrisome highly contagious disease.
Not afraid of cold, nor even being tired, or hit by spray, the woman, who works as a teacher, kept going to and fro amidst the noise of spray machine, foggy and dew due to the splash of disinfectant spray water.
The activity that had a health risk to herself was not only once she had participated, but many times from 24 sprayings conducted by PHD throughout Banjarmasin and its surroundings during the pandemic.
Sherrie, who once won the second place of Banjarmasin's outstanding teachers and won the national teacher olympiad at the sub-district level, is indeed known as a dedicated person.
"Dedicating my self to the public is inner nutrition, a mental pleasure, and there is a feeling of happiness," said a woman who has a hobby to make a video.
Because of inner nutrition, whatever is helping a lot of people, that what makes her proud of joining Forum Komunitas Hijau (Green Community Forum), Masyarakat Peduli Sungai or Melingai (River-Care Community), PHD, and Banjarmasin Lotus Community.
"I am proud to be a member of FKH, Melingai, PHD, and komunitas teratai, these organizations are real and selfless, (they have a common motto) no one asks, no one pay, not to ask for acknowledgement, not as anyone, and does not want to be," she said with a smile.
It feels like to be a human being who is beneficial to the earth and other humans, even though only doing little good things like dust, but can create extraordinary changes for the earth and its contents, said a woman who resides on Jalan Cendrawasih, Belitung Selatan, West Banjarmasin.
