South Kalimantan Governor H Sahbirin Noor stated that Kampung Tangguh Banua (the Local Tough Village or Urban Village) became an embryo of community power to ward off COVID-19.

"I really appreciate the establishment of Kampung Tangguh Banua in all districts and cities in South Kalimantan. Now we have risen to suppress the spread of coronavirus," he affirmed when reviewed Kampung Tangguh Banua in Banua Anyar Urban Village, East Banjarmasin, together with the Provincial Police Chief Insp.Gen. Nico Afinta and other officials, Wednesday.

According to the governor, who is familiarly called Uncle Birin, Kampung Tangguh Banua is a pioneer of joint efforts to combat against COVID-19 from expanding.

"This form of collaboration was the result of coordination which was synergized to become a joint force of all elements of society in warding off coronavirus through a smaller environment protection at the level of RT (neighborhood unit) or kelurahan (urban village)," he pointed out.

The government, TNI (military) and Polri (police) cannot work alone, but need the active community participation in the efforts to contain COVID-19 cases from spreading.

"Let us pray hopefully the storm of corona is fleeting," he said.

Meanwhile, the Provincial Police Chief Insp.Gen. Nico Afinta stated to continue to encourage the establishment of Kampung Tangguh COVID-19 in many places in all districts and cities in the province.

"This is a clear example of the hard work of Bhabinkamtibmas (public order police officer), Babinsa (a village supervisory non-commissioned officer) and the lower level of government in fostering the citizens. Kampung Tangguh Banua can represent the spirit of containing COVID-19 from the community," said the two-star general.

Nico stressed, the key to,living with coronavirus is discipline, thus health protocol must be implemented without exception.

The Kampung Tangguh Banua in Banua Anyar was directly fostered by East Banjarmasin Police. According to Chief of the sub-district police Adj Comr (AKP) Susilo, the local residents in their own awarenss of self-help have formed the Small Scale Social Restriction (PSBK).

"This is very positive, so we support it. Education to residents continues to be encouraged in order the village free from the spread of COVID-19," he said.
