The District Government of Kotabaru has set to utilize rusunawa (low-cost rental apartments) in the housing complex of Perikanan to isolate patients afflicted with COVID-19.

"This is our agreement to make rusunawa as a place of temporary isolation for coronavirus afflicted patients," said Regent H Sayed Jafar on the sideline of reviewing the rusunawa building together with members district leader communication forums (Forkofimda), Tuesday (March 31, 2020).

Sayed said, the district government together with Forkopimda are currently focusing on containing the outbreak of coronavirus by establishing several posts, such as at the airport, ferry port, and in Sengayam, which borders directly with East Kalimantan.

In addition, the regent continued, public places such as mosques, hospitals, and markets were being sprayed with disinfectant liquid.

"We are doing this as a preventive measure to prevent the spread of COVID-19," he pointed out.

He explained the district government had also prepared more than Rp10 billion in funds originating from revised emergency budget as well as DAK (Special Allocation Fund) for COVID-19 prevention.

As it has been agreed by executive and legislative in their joint meeting, the fund will be used, including for the procurement of personal protective equipment (APD) for health workers at the frontline.
