The Kotabaru Legislative Council (DPRD) made policy by temporarily stop the agenda of outside the South Kalimantan Province activities, either of consultation meetings or work visits, within a certain period of time.
Speaker of the council Syairi Mukhlis confirmed the policy following the larger outbreak of coronavirus disease (Covid-19) that had enter a number of regions in Indonesia.
"For the time being we postpone all work visit activities outside the province, unless it is urgent," Syairi said, Tuesday (March 17, 2020).

Visiting out the province, he said, will be very vulnerable to coronavirus exposure, especially at the epidemic area. Thus, a working meeting for all members of the legislature would b enough in the office, and a maximum visit or consultation meeting is held in the province alone.
Asked how long this policy will take effect, the PDIP politician claimed to wait for the development in the handling of COVID-19 by the government, including the policies issued.
As a form of concern, the DPRD took the initiative to distribute free face-masks to the public, especially at the Kotabaru District Hospital, Civil Registry and Population Agency (Disdukcapil), and the district government secretariat for 500 pieces each.
