The South Kalimantan Forestry Agency has closed two natural tourism sites under its management and has suspended several activities to prevent the spread of novel coronavirus disease (COVID-19).


Head of the Sultan Adam Public Forest Park (Tahura) Ainun Jariah here on Monday (March 16, 2020) said, to protect the health of public and all related parties, the forest park in Mandiangin and Bukit Batu Sungai Luar attraction are temporarily closed for 14 days from March 14 to 29, 2020.

The closure, she affirmed, is in accordance with the direction of the Head of South Kalimantan Forestry Agency Hanif Faisol Nurofiq, who requested the two tourism objects to be closed to the public.

"The closure is also used for cleaning and repairing, maintaining facilities and infrastructure at the tourist spots in Mandiangin and Sungai Luar," Ainun said.

The two attractions will be reopened after two weeks while waiting for further developments. "For this reason, we as management apologize and hoped this situation to be understood," she hoped.

Not only closing the two attraction, but the agency also postponed various meetings which involving many people, such as a meeting to discuss forest and land rehabilitation (RHL) with the Ministry of Environment and Forestry.

The Forester Day, which should be held on March 19, 2020, in Tanjung, Tabalong District, is also delayed for uncertain time.

At present, several agencies and regions in South Kalimantan are also taking steps to anticipate the spread of coronavirus.
